Meet Study and Go Abroad’s Fall 2022 Grand Prize Winner

Grace attended a Study and Go Abroad fair in the fall of 2022 and she won the grand prize: a round-trip flight to anywhere in the world where Air Canada flies!

Back in September 2022, the Study and Go Abroad fairs took place in five cities across Canada: Toronto, Montréal, Ottawa, Calgary, and Vancouver. At these fairs, students and parents were able to chat with schools about studying abroad or staying in Canada to pursue the next step in their educational journey.

But that’s not all that students can do at a Study and Go Abroad fair! There are also plenty of contests for students to participate in, and for one lucky student, the opportunity of a lifetime! Let’s get to know more about Study and Go Abroad’s Fall 2022 grand prize winner, Grace:

Meet Grace: SAGA’s grand prize winner

The winner of the grand prize — a round-trip flight to anywhere that Air Canada flies — is Grace!

Grace studied Environment and Agricultural Sciences at McGill University and attended a Study and Go Abroad fair to explore her scholarship options for pursuing a master’s degree abroad.

After a long break from travelling due to the pandemic, Grace was excited to get back to exploring the world. Using her round-trip flight, she chose to explore somewhere new.

“When choosing my destination, I wanted to push myself out of my comfort zone and experience a totally different culture. India immediately came to mind! As an avid hiker, I knew I had to travel to Nepal as well.”

So, thanks to SAGA’s grand prize, Grace travelled to India and Nepal by herself for two months. Her favourite part of the trip was watching the sunrise in the Himalayas.

While travelling solo, Grace felt she improved her confidence, independence, and problem-solving skills as she left her comfort zone and met interesting people from around the world.

“My experience abroad has reminded me of my love for travel. I’m looking forward to saving up enough to embark on my next adventure or finding an opportunity to work abroad.”

If you’ve been dying to go abroad, why not check out the SAGA fairs like Grace did?

Grace’s advice for anyone visiting the next SAGA fair

Whether you’ve got a clear picture of where you want to study, or you’re still exploring your options, Grace recommends that you do your research.

“Investigate the organizations [that are]presenting before attending and prioritize those that fit your interests.”

There are lots of exhibitors to visit, so by checking out who will be in attendance in advance, you’ll be able to narrow down your options and have the time to have genuine and informative conversations with each school.

“I’ve always dreamt of studying abroad, but the cost was a real barrier. I appreciated the opportunity to discuss funding opportunities directly with university staff. They had great insight into the specific opportunities for international students in their country and [at their]university.”

Don’t let this opportunity pass you by. Get to know your post-secondary options at the next Study and Go Abroad fairs from September 27 to October 1, 2023. Who knows, you could be the next winner of a Study and Go Abroad prize! Make sure you meet us at a fair in Calgary, Vancouver, Ottawa, and Toronto this fall to learn more about your educational options to study abroad or stay within Canada.

  2. In the shadowy realm that is the internet in this day and age, Jess Ferguson is a beacon of hope. I owe a lot of what I know about writing services to the fact that she was able to provide me with the knowledge I needed.
