MBA’s and MSc International Management and Leadership
Due to its popularity, students are now able to choose from four new innovative MBA/MSc International Management with Leadership routes, in addition to the General and Hospitality programmes we traditionally offered at QMU Edinburgh. Focus can be on General Business, Family and Smaller Enterprise, or Tourism and Events. Highlights include small, diverse class sizes; fieldtrips; and a final project encouraging students to engage in a consultancy project with an external organization.
Masters in Public Administration (MPA)
This innovative one-year MPA is the public sector equivalent of the MBA. Students will attend the university two days per week and complete a Masters dissertation. Highlights include expert guest speakers and visits to key public administration sites such as the Holyrood Parliament in Edinburgh, Houses of Parliament in London, Parlament de Catalunya in Barcelona, and the European Parliament in Brussels. Research from 2011 showed that MPA graduates can earn, on average, 31% more in salary following graduation.
MSc Strategic Communications and Public Relations
When studying for an MSc Strategic Communications and Public Relations at QMU, you will be taught by tutors with internationally-recognized research and practitioner backgrounds, you’ll develop your professional portfolio, and you can become involved with the Scottish communications and public relations industry. You will benefit from our strong links with professional associations, work alongside practitioners, attend thought leader lectures, network at events, work on client briefs, and undertake placements and work experience.
MA Arts Festival and Cultural Management
Part of our strength comes from our location; being based in Edinburgh means that the course has been developed over time in cooperation with key national cultural agencies, arts organizations, and festivals. Our location in the ‘festival city’ also allows for strong practical links between the course and the many arts, festival and cultural organizations based in and around Edinburgh, across Scotland, and the UK. Through a series of field trips, our new Arts Management in Action (pending validation) module will see students gain insights directly from those leading Scotland’s cultural organizations, offering an invaluable experience that will help bring theory to life.
MSc Occupational Therapy
This accelerated Masters level programme in Occupational Therapy is an intensive course of study and practical placements, enabling students to develop theoretical, analytical, practical, evaluative, and reasoning skills. This programme is recognised (by the World Federation of Occupational Therapists) and allows students to work as an Occupational Therapist in the UK. (Please note that a Masters level qualification in Occupational Therapy is a minimum requirement in order to practice in Canada.)
Canadian student, Alexia Mitchell has kindly provided this testimonial relating to her experience with QMU.
